Harvard 500-2 Section Filter Element – replacement bypass filter element for Harvard 500-series housings, including our HV-500 Oil Filtration Kit.
This two-section element is designed for gear oils and very heavy viscosity oils (ISO 460–1000). It removes contaminants down to 1 micron and removes water, without removing or depleting the oil's additives.
Suitable for
- Gear and transmission oils
- Hydraulic oils
- Engine oils
- Cutting oils
- Petroleum or synthetic fluids
Capacity & flow
- Make-up fluid required: 11.4 L (housing volume)
- Ideal sump range: 15.2–378.5 L (lube 15.2–41.6 L; hydraulic 117.3–378.5 L)
- Flow rate: 0–7.6 L/min
Specifications
- Element size: 19 cm diameter × 50 cm long
- Filtration efficiency: β3 = 250 (captures 99.6% of particles 3 microns and larger)
- Maximum operating pressure: 80 PSI (5.5 bar)
- Weight: 2.0 kg
When to change the element
Most applications need a new element every 500–1,000 operating hours. Ideally, change it when the flow drops to half its starting rate, or when the pressure doubles from its starting reading.
Flow rates are measured at 40 °C. Viscosity, operating temperature and the amount of contamination all affect sizing and flow rates.
